Ranger® 1500 Rangefinder

The lightweight Ranger® 1500 is an easy to use rangefinder with a clean display and highly intuitive menu that quickly and accurately ranges targets from 9 to 1500 yards. The Primary Horizontal Component Distance (HCD) mode provides an angle–compensated distance reading because we know you don’t always hunt on flat ground.

Three brightness settings coupled with fully multi-coated lenses deliver maximum light transmission and easy viewing in varying light conditions. Add o-ring seals and you get waterproof performance as well. The 1500 can be set to read in yards or meters and is perfect for hunters, target shooters, bowhunters, and other sportsmen who need to know accurate ranges.

Note
The compact lightweight Ranger 1500 fits easily into your pack or can hang around your neck using the included lanyard. The adjustable utility clip works on a belt, pocket, or other flat edged surface for easy access. The clip can be mounted on the right or left side of the unit or completely removed. The Ranger 1500 runs on the common CR2 battery.

HCD Corrected Shoot-To Range

The Ranger 1500 uses HCD (Horizontal Component Distance) angle-compensated ranging technology to give bow and rifle shooters the critical distance data needed to make accurate shots.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Long Range Newbie 2 I just recently purchased this based on the quality of Optics I also had just recently purchased for my Ruger Precision. (See other Optics review entitled "Long Range Newbie") I own 25 acres (Wooded) in the country and have a small range, but not set up for long distances that the RPR can achieve. (The gun is designed for up to 1600 yards !!!!!) The features are amazing, the clarity is outstanding, but it was the size that just blew me away. Who ever said big things can come in small packages was correct. Counting the Rings and Flip Caps I own 4 products from Vortex, It looks like I'll be a life long customer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great option This rangefinder was a much needed update on the ranger 1000. Getting rid of the 3 button operation was a HUGE upgrade although the Leupold 1200 still acquires targets faster than the ranger 1500 the gap has been sigfigantly closed the advantage that I would give to the 1500 over the Leupod 1200 or either of the Lecia's is the ruggedness this thing feels like it could take a direct hit from a missile (not recommended) and the pocket clip is as always just unexplainably useful overall a wonderful rangefinder reason for 4 star is target accusation is still lacking behind Leica and Leupold.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looking for a rangefinder?? This is the one. I recently purchased a Ranger 1500. Let me start by saying the Vortex sales department is awesome and the warranty is rocking. I hunt a vast range of animals using various shooting equipment. I amongst many others put in the research before buying there hunting optics and gear. The last thing you want is the equipment to fail after you put in your time in the chase. If your looking for a rangefinder that can be used for archery and long range hunting or shooting I would give Vortex and this rangefinder the opportunity to prove itself. If your anything like me you won't be let down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Do all range finder. I chose Vortex for a range finder because they are the only company that I could find that offers a lifetime warranty on their ranger finders, this tells me that they have faith in their product. I first bought this to use for predator hunting as I needed a good range find that would give me accurate readings out to 500yd or so. I found this this one will work great for archery as well, the arc compensator works perfectly to calculate an actual distance. I also found that in archery distances (40yds and under) that the unit is accurate to within 1yd instead of the advertise +/- 3yds. The glass quality is great, and the unit is very fast in turning on and getting a reading. I have no complaints.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One and done... I wish I had more experience with this rangefinder; but, the little experience I do have has proven severely beneficial. I bought this rangefinder and had it out in the field within 24 hours of opening the box. It's incredibly user friendly and was very quick to acquire the target I was trying to range. Within seconds of having it out of my pocket (at 7 degrees fahrenheit), it was on target and reading a yardage. It was a bit of a poke for me so I had to put complete faith in the product to make the shot. Knowing what I know about Vortex and their quality, I didn't think twice, thumbed the safety, squeezed the trigger, and dropped a mule deer where it stood. Bottom line, it's a great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from How did I ever bowhunt without a range finder. I am an avid bowhunter and have relied on my estimating skills for many years. As age catches up on you, your eyesight acuity diminishes. So I got a Ranger 1500, and I can't believe I have hunted for all these years without them using either a gun and a bow. Ranging a shot out to my maximum range of about 300 yards with a gun with of course a Vortex Diamondback HP scope on it and 40 yards with a bow is now exact and I know what I have to do to make the shot and have the needed confidence to make it. Thanks Vortex for making a super rangefinder that I can easily use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great!! I had a XX brand rangefinder that I got from a holiday sale a couple years ago and it was awful and it sent me on the look for one that worked and worked well. That search eventually led me to the Ranger 1500. Because of the brand and other products I have and how much I like them I ordered one up and have NOT been disappointed!! I can easily range out to a little more than 650 yards freestanding and off a support I have gotten readings of 1350 yards. The size and features of this unit have me sold and I can't wait to get it out on hunting trips this year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love My Ranger 1500!!!!!!!! I got my Ranger 1500 as soon as they came out. I use it for Bow hunting and it works great for creating a mental kill zone for deer hunting as I move from stand to stand. I also use it for ranging unknown distance for Long Range Rifle Shooting. The 1500 yard ability is real as long as the target is large enough. I can get a good read off of big trees out to 7-800 yards after that I aim at hill sides or walls and it works great! Its the best range finder I have ever used. I have not used it for golf yet but I think it will work great. Brian

Can it be used for golf also?

Asked by: Dave
Certainly. Plenty of targets on a gold course. A golf ball wouldn't be big enough to use as a target by itself

Can the 1500 be use with a tripod adaptor and if so where does it mount on the rangefinder? Also are extra belt clips available if they become damaged or bent?
Asked by: New hunter
The Ranger will accept a 1/4-20 bolt which is an industry standard for tripods and quick release plates. So it will screw directly into the bottom of the unit. If your clip becomes damaged just give us a ring at 800-426-0048 and we'll get you taken care of!

How quickly does the ranger acquire targets?
Asked by: Willie
That is completely dependent on conditions, weather, atmospheric, and range. It can be a very hard thing to quantify. Generally you can get a reading under a second.

Does the 1500 measure in tenths of a yard or whole yards?
Asked by: joe
The Ranger 1500 measures in whole yards.
