Viper® HS LR™ 6-24x50 Riflescope — First Focal Plane

Want to extend your effective shooting range at distances where bullet drop and wind drift become critical? Take a look at the Viper HS LR riflescope. The LR stands for long range — and we mean it. This riflescope features an exposed target-style elevation turret built for dialing elevation at extended ranges. The capped windage turret maintains the scope’s sleek lines and prevent it from hanging up on clothing, rifle cases or pack scabbards.

Viper HS LR riflescopes feature an advanced optical system highlighted with a 4x zoom range for magnification versatility. A forgiving eye box with increased eye relief gets shooters on target quickly and easily. Built on an ultra-strong 30mm one-piece machined aluminum tube for increased windage and elevation travel and optimal adjustment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Rest long rang scope. Being my first Vortex purchase I had very high expectations. Most of them were met. All adjustments have a positive and precise feel to them. Clarity in bright to low light conditions is great. FFP all the way!!!!! The included sunshade does the job. Very easy to set zero and to set zero stop. I have zeroed at 200 yard and then set the stop for 100. MOA is very easy to use, especially if you can do math in your head. My only complaint is the eye relief is not what I think it should be. I've had much cheaper scopes that were on par with the HS-LR on most things including light gathering and clarity that had a much more forgiving eye relief.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great optics This is the first long range scope I have ever purchased. Previously I had been very skepticle of the prices of long range optics, however I am extremely happy with this scope. I bought it to place on a tikka T3 light to use for sheep hunting. While zeroing it, i had absolutely no issues and went thru very few rounds to get the shot group in the black at 100 yards. Since that day I have been accurately placing rounds on target at ranges exceeding 800 yards, and have been able to accuratly range targets utilizing the reticle. I have no doubt that for a beginner like me or an experienced long range shooter this optic will impress you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceeded Expectations I started to get into PRS shooting this year and didn't want to go all out on a Gen 2 Razor until I knew I really wanted to shoot a lot of matches. So far this scope has been fantastic! The clarity is great, true adjustments, and the zero stop is exactly what I was needing to stop from dialing to far down in the heat of a competition. Very smooth magnification adjustments, although I might get a throw level just to speed things up in competition. I really enjoy the XLR reticle, I feel very confident with any holdovers I might do when I don't have the time to dial. Get this scope and you will not be disappointed!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Viper HS LR 6 - 24 This is my first Vortex rifle scope, im just an average guy who saved up and bought a nice gun and wanted a nice scope. It was difficult to find as they have been on back order, i take that as a good thing. i have it mounted on a Sako Finnlight 75 300wsm and it shoots 1/2 moa. im new to long range shooting, but i zeroed it at 100 took it out to 400 with approximate load data and the turret was right on. this scope will spend the next few years in the Pacific Northwest getting used a lot. it will be put to the test, i want to see how it hold up to impact and just plain abuse. until the next review, Thanks Vortex!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I own three Viper HS LR 6-24x50 FFP's First purchase is mounted onto my AR15 build in 223 Wylde. Second purchase is mounted onto my Ruger Precision Rifle in6.5 Creedmoor. Third purchase ins mounted onto my custom TC Encore in 6.5 Creedmoor. My shooting activity at the ranges attracts attention with the Vipers, punching holes in paper, and ringing the bell shooting steel at long ranges. The performance of these three is optic perfection, easy to acquire targets, adjust, and downright fun to teach others about the reticule advantages they have. Press the trigger and smile while the guys shooting beside me are experiencing frustrating results. So far I have been responsible for getting 3 fellow shooters to buy Vortex with 100% satisfaction. My daughter loves to shoot my AR!

As a guide in AZ this long range scope is key, I have client come to camp with gear capable for 200 yrds max, I explain the difficulty of hunting coues and it's always good to be able to make 500 plus yard shot. I was competing against -5k guns and Schmit-Bender and ART Scopes (Darrels Design). This course puts you and your scope through the grinder on ranging, identifying and doping wind. Throughout this course you are constantly on the dials making changes. At the end of the day this scope performed FLAWLESSLY and held .25 MOA on windage and .5 MOA on elevation. I was up and down the dial relentlessly and can't say enough about the performance. It Held zero and never let me down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 6-24x50 ffp I put this on a Remington 700 lr in 300 wm. I've had it on for a year and a half now. No issues with at all. It's an amazing scope and wouldn't hesitate to buy another if I needed it. I placed a small pumpkin at 1210 yards dialed elevation and held for 10 mph cross wind, I shot the pumpkin ten times. I also put my 9 year old boy behind the same gun and this scope. Two shots dead center on pumpkin. This scope has three elk kills under it's belt, and would have more but AZ is hard state to get tags. Awesome scope!!!

Asked by: MAC2
Cap1 If your looking for mounts talk to one of the reps from Vortex. I purchased a set from them and could not be happier. I work for Turners Outdoors part time and could have picked other mounts, but haven't seen any I liked better. Very happy with the Vortex mounts.

I just purchased a Vortex Viper HS LR 6-24x50. I want to mount the scope on a Savage 111 long range hunter in 300wm. First, should I get a 0 or 20 moa base from EGW? Second, I will be using Vortex precision matched rings, what height will be best?

Asked by: donnier03
I mounted mine on a 20 MOA base with high height rings, this left about 1/16 of an inch clearance from the front of my scope to my Barrel. This combination also allows you to shoot further distances with proper adjustments for precision.

I have a Savage 10 BA Stealth and plan to order the Viper HS LR 6-24x50 but will also be adding a 20 MOA base. What ring height should I use? Can I still put a shade on the front lense?

Asked by: JABIDAK
Our Precision Matched Rings in 0.87" height will work very well on your setup.

Hi. I just bought a Viper HS LR 6-24x50. I want to mount it on a 308 Savage Model 10 FCP. What do you recommend for base and rings? Thank you.

Asked by: Dritan
I would recommend a 20 MOA rail and a set of quality rings. I've used Seekins Precision in the past but they are limited for Savage stock. I'd still use the Seekins 30mm rings however, and depending on your barrel contour you'd be best to start with the med/low. If you have a larger barrel contour than go to the mediums but you might have to raise your cheek slightly off the comb to get behind the scope.

I am planning to buy a FX-50 made by Valley Ordnance Works. What manufacture do you recommend for a 20 MOA rail and what rings would you suggest?

Asked by: mhale76522
The rail on your rifle is not replaceable, if it is a 0 MOA rail I recommend going with our Precision Extended Cantilever Mount with 20 MOA built in.
