Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good look'n glass This is my first real pair of binoculars and I have to say for the price they are fantastic. I am an entry level hunter learning the ropes this last couple years. Glassine is a new concept for me but the vortex Dimondback 8x42 have been great over the last several months. I am very happy with both the weight and the glass. The VIP warranty also gives me the comfort that these binos are covered no matter what. That's a great feeling. I am very excited to get them out in the field this fall and harvest that first elk.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from CLARITY I went into xyz big box store about 10 minutes after the sun had set and ask the clerk to get out 5 sets of bino's within a 250 price range. Cheapest pair costing 0 most expensive pair around 0. We took them to the parking lot and I started gassing in low light conditions. The Diamondbacks out permed every bino present even one set that was a 10 power. Warranty is the best in the business to boot. I have had many friends switch to vortex because of my own experience. Very good glass for the coin.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Proven performer, sharp as a tack! These where among my earlier Vortex purchases and probably my favorite! How can a set of mid priced bino's have so many features and be so optically on the money??? Im not sure how Vortex have achieved this compromise between price and quality, because I feel they are worth triple the RRP! Rugged, reliable, sharp as a tack, these things will never leave my chest! Why you would need to spend more money on expensive Euro glass is beyond me, Diamondback 8x42 Bino's Rock!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great All Around Binoculars Bought a Diamondback 8X42 binocular for whitetail deer hunting in wooded terrain. These binoculars have great clarity, are easy to adjust to personal vision and, being an eyeglass wearer, are easy to use. My old binoculars made my eyes feel like they were straining to see, but the Diamondback is very nice to view through, even for long sightings. Recommend to anyone wanting a great viewing binocular at an affordable price. These are a working mans binocular.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rugged Binos I bought these initially for hunting whitetails in the eastern part of the Country but I did bring them along for my Idaho public land Mule Deer hunt. They have taken a good bit of knocking around from climbing in and out of my tree stand. The 8X42 are well powered for tree stand hunting although if using for western hunts, I would suggest buying a 10 or 12X50. Regardless of magnification, durability is proven in this well priced binocular.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome in low light I recently picked these up on sale at Cabela's. I have been wanting some nice glass and couldn't pass up Vortex optics for the price they were listed at. I got them 2 days later and brought them to work that night. I work in Boulder, CO and have a clear view of the Boulder Flatirons. I waited until about 20 or so minutes after the sun finally dropped behind the ridge; I was able to clearly make out 3 individual people walking a trail down the first Flatiron. After going online to check the actual distance, I found it was roughly 4 miles away! It's been a long time since I've had some binoculars I'm proud to own and excited to use. These Diamondbacks are the are coming with me to Rocky Mountain National park this weekend and I can't wait to put them to the test thus hunting season. For the price (and especially the warranty) you can't beat them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Vortex Diamondback compared to Nikin Monarch 3 I own both a pair of Vortex Diamondback 8x42 and Nikon Monarch 3 8x42. Although at longer distances the clarity of shapes on the Nikon is sharper, the Diamondback is much "brighter" with light in all conditions but especially shines in lowe light conditions , feels lighter and has better ergonomics. The 8x42 is a good option for general hunting and casual birding. Excellent binocular for a very reasonable price!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great binos, great customer service I had these binos for a couple months and just couldn't get them to focus correctly. The two eye pieces would not line up. So I sent them in and vortex replaced them with a brand new pair no questions asked! And it only took a week or two to get the new pair back. The new ones work great and I love them and the piece of mind you get with the vortex lifetime guarantee.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great glass! I kept wanting a set of these as an upgrade from some 7x bushnell's I was using at long range rifle matches and finally got a heck of a deal on them from optics planet. These things were a huge upgrade. The edge to edge image clarity is great, they are better in low light conditions and I was easily able to spot hits and misses on long range targets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These are awesome, great product at a great price I got these as a gift for Christmas and couldn't be happier. The optics are great given the price. I am extremely please with the construction of the product. The VIP warranty on a mid range product makes this a no brainer. I will be purchasing more products from Vortex in the future. Thank you for making a great product that fits the budget.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Binoculars1 I bought these binoculars for hunting and spotting. I use them quiet a bit, they get thrown around whether is in the truck or out in the field. I am very impressed with how clear they are for the price point and will defiantly be looking at getting another set of Vortex Optic! Great product guys and can't wait to see what else you bring out!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great glass, great price I live and hunt in Alaska. I love how clear they are and do not fog like other brands that I have owned. I Ike the weight of them without compromising quality. I have 2 sons so I don't have a lot of money to spend on glass. In my opinion it is by far the best glass in the price range I can afford. Also the warranty is second to none.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hands down top tier quality I purchased my pair of binoculars a few years ago now, and every time I use them I am impressed with the quality and clarity. I use them every day for work (LE), and they even assisted me in locating a vehicle that was wanted for a kidnapping from California, which I won't go into detail, but with a lesser quality optic I would not have been able to verify the vehicle as easy, if at all. I also use them for scouting and hunting, which they work awesome! I had a scare a few weeks ago, where I set them on the bed rail of my truck after checking my trail camera. When I got home I realized they were gone, and went back the next day and found them lying in the dirt road, wet from dew but otherwise unharmed. I let them dry and tried them out, and they worked just like they did when I purchased them! To say the least, I am very impressed with the quality, and I am a lifetime Vortex customer. As long as the warranty remains the same, I will look no other place for anything that Vortex builds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great optics I've bought these over a year ago and they have been awesome. They are easy and quick to use. The vision out of them is crystal clear. Not only do I use these hunting but they are in my truck with me every single day. The best thing about the vortex products is the awesome warranty they have.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly recommend! First of all, I would like to say vortex has the best customer service I've ever seen. Very helpful when trying to decide what's best for me. The binoculars are incredible. Very clear with a nice field of view. Brings in a ton of light, very nice for coyote hunting! You won't be disappointed!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love these I got this pair for my son who is 8. I got them 2 years ago. I picked these for him because I knew I couldn't go wrong. If he breaks them there's an awesome warranty. They are clear and gather good light so he won't "out grow" these. He will be able to use them well into his hunting career.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All around great binos Got these for Christmas to use for deer hunting from a tree stand as well as my first trip out west for elk this year. Worked great for late season after Christmas and can't wait to put them through the paces on my elk trip. The warranty just gives me piece of mind, love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't beat them for the price I have had my diamondbacks for 1 year and absolutely love them. The are very crisp and are great at last light. I looked at binoculars for months before deciding to go with these, but why spend 0 for binoculars when you can spend less than 0 and get the same quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Binos I've owned to date For the price I paid for these beauties and how well the clarity is in the low-lit thick timbered areas I hunt, I couldn't be more stoked on these or recommend them enough! Lightweight, non-fog, water resistant = awesome optics! Do yourself a favor and pick up a pair!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my Diamondback I have had my Vortex Diamondback binoculars for two years and completely love these binocs. I use them mainly for birding but also use them on a shooting range and for viewing landscapes from mountain tops. My Diamondback binoculars have never let me down.
Date published: 2017-11-02
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't be beat for the price I picked up the 8x42 Diamondbacks primarily for bow and rifle hunting. Great binoculars. I can't see how they can be beat in their price range. I plan to also get a second pair in 8x32 for the times I would prefer something a little smaller and lighter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product great warranty Was looking at Nikon and Vortex as my choices. In my opinion the Vortex was a clearer, sharper image. I like the durability of the product and the no questions asked warranty that comes with each Vortex optic puts the icing on the cake!
Date published: 2017-06-15
Rated 5 out of 5 by from No non-sense, functional gear. I needed a set of quality binos for several outdoor pursuits from hunting to football games and bird watching. These binos are light weight (< 22 oz), rugged, weather proof and crystal clear. I use a harness sling to carry them and I barely notice they are there. They are comfortable to hold and extremely easy to use. On one hunting trip I was able to directly compare them to a set of Swarovski binos, The Swarovski owner or I could not notice a difference in the clarity. Price was a factor for me and the Diamondback 8x42 were less than 0, a great value without breaking the budget! The only recommendation I would make to Vortex is in regards to the lens covers. They seem to be an after thought and with such a great product more thought should be put into the little details. The covers work but they are not really secured to the binos, I have tied the eyepiece covers down with cord and constantly check the larger covers to make sure they are not sliding off. Perhaps some "flip up" covers that are permanently attached would work well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best pair of binoculars for the price! I bought my diamond backs about a month ago. They have been great! They are nice and clear and they are not to heavy. They work awesome to see a condition of a roof on houses. To use them they are easy to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Clear and Compact Want a good quality pair of binoculars to use when hunting and shooting, but didn't want to get a bulky pair. This pair is everything one could ask for in a compact set that is light and durable and clear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bang for the buck I used to be a Nikon guy when buying this price point. Not any more. This is my second product from vortex. Build quality and glass is awesome! I'll be checking higher end products by them real soon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You can't go wrong! My wife and I both use our Diamondback 8x42 binoculars, she while kayaking seeing birds and many types of wildlife along the shorelines, and me, hunting the woods of western Montana. Love them!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product with an outstanding warranty. Love my new diamondback binoculars! The glass is crystal clear and I can easily zero in with minor adjustments. At this price point you can't beat it... Plus the warranty speaks for itself!

How can you tell the new 2016 model from previous models?
Asked by: Jim
It will have a hinge that is closer to the ocular end. The chassis will be magnesium now instead of polycarbonate. The housing is also more modern looking and has less texturizing. The model numbers are also different, the new ones start with DB### whereas the old model numbers were D###.

What is the relative brightness for the 8x42 Diamondback binos?
Asked by: scdjw75
The relative brightness for the 8x42 binoculars calculates to 27.6, but this measurement is going to be the same for every 8x42 binocular on the market because to calculate it you calculate the exit pupil (Objective lens in mm divided by magnification) then square that number. So numerically every 8x42 binocular will have the same value, and this number does not do anything to compare them across different brands.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great but..... Birdwatching only. I love these binos, great clear crisp images, sturdy, easy to use, but......... the right eyecup has come loose, hard to keep focus, constantly fiddling around with eyecup, must have had to readjust a hundred times last time out birding. I love that they are made here in America and it was a big reason I got them. My Nikon Monarchs have the same issue so I am hoping that Vortex will come through with a fix where Nikon was no help at all. I have a HD Razor scope and it has been spot on perfect since I got it so it was a bit disappointing to have something as fundamental as the eyecup to fail. Sorry for the double posting....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great glass....greater company! We've had these for 2 years now with no problems and wonderful viewing, especially for the price. My wife mainly used them and when I had them one day I noticed the diopter ring wouldn't move. Contacted Vortex and Graham Goeglein quickly answered back to send them back to be fixed. I took less than 10 days to go from my house to Vortex where they replaced the diopter assembly. They also replaced the lens caps and checked and cleaned everything else. All of this was at no cost whatsoever, just like their warranty says. I wish all companies had service like this. I highly recommend Vortex products to anyone interested.....can't go wrong here!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bins! Just thought I'd add to my previous review on these binoculars to give prospective purchasers an idea on how they perform over time. What I love about these bins is the 'build quality'. For a fraction of the price of the 'known brands' such as Zeiss, Leica, Swarowski etc, you get a superb optical performance. I have owned my 'bins' for two years and they were a replacement for my 35 year old Swift Audubons which I thought would be irreplaceable. Would I buy Vortex again? Absolutely. They are fantastic. Would I replace them? Yes! When I have enough money to upgrade to the Vortex HD! Thanks Vortex-Fantastic bins and great value for money to boot! Gibbo

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Diamondback 8x42 I've used these binos for almost two years now, they are great. It did take me a while to get them focused for my eyes so that I did not feel cross eyed when pulling them away from my eyes. After getting them properly focused they are extremely clear when compared to similarly priced binos. Others brands that I have had over the years usually last one to two years then start become harder to get a good crisp picture out of them. The diamomondbacks are still going strong with their clarity and low light morning and evening glassing is phenomenal. I would recommend for anyone wanting an entry-level bino! Well built, durable and can not beat the warranty!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Value I finally bought a new set of binoculars after years of using a set of Bushnells/Bausch and Lomb from the 80's. This was my 3rd Vortex purchase after two rifle scopes and I am very pleased with them. So far they have 2 hunting seasons and a trip out west to several National Parks. Clear all the way to dark and they haven't fogged on me yet. I got these well under 0 and they will run with anything in the price class. The 8 power is great for deer hunting in the east but I would go 10's if you are just using for general site seeing, birding, or are in the open spaces of the west.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Diamond Back Birthday I had a pair of cheap Pawn shop binoculars for a long time, The wife does not hunt but she is always there with me and usually has the cheap binoculars that I got a pawn shop. She know's that I have a few Vortex scopes (4) and while at a sporting goods store she saw a binocular display, I did not think anything of it I was looking at some rifles. a week later it was birthday time for Tom, there they were a Diamondback 8 x 42 set of binoculars. I asked how she knew I needed some, In here words, " after looking through the cheap binoculars you had for years, now we might be able to see something. Now I have added a Diamondback Spotting scope. Love that woman and a great pair of Vortex Diamondback binoculars.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Grand purchase! Purchased the diamondback 8x42 binos about 4 months ago and have been using them quite often viewing wildlife. Am quite happy with the clarity, smooth focus and field of view. The outer rubber coating seems to be durable and has a comfortable feel. Only problem I have is while out the lense covers don't hold on to well and fall off so I've had to use electrical tape to stop that from happening. Now to wait for hunting season! Am happy with this purchase and will buy vortex again for other optics, can't beat a good product with an no questions asked warranty if needed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Purchase and a Cut Above in its Price Point. I use this pair of Binoculars for both my bow and rifle hunting applications. They work well in the area that I hunt which has a lot of shade from the canopies of oak trees. I love the field of view that helps me acquire game quickly even in low light. For the price, you can not go wrong with the Diamondback. The glass is clear and is easily adjustable, and you only start seeing a little haze interference at far distances, i.g. 600-700 yards. My eyesight is 20/10, so l'm not just seeing things. However, I spot my game from 500 yards max, and hunt them around 300 yards max, so this is not a problem for me. You can tell that Vortex puts a lot into the quality of their glass, at all price points, and for most applications, the Diamondback will leave you satisfied.
