Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved these Binos so much we bought a second pair! My husband bought a pair of Diamondback 10x42 Binoculars upon referral from a friend. He has used them primarily for Hunting. He is very happy with the quality, clarity, and warranty (though he hasn't needed the warranty yet). We are both so impressed with these binoculars, that we recently purchased a second pair of Diamondback 10x42's so that we could each have our own pair. I will be using my Diamondbacks for Archery Tournaments and Hunting. I am very thankful to Vortex for producing a reliable product, and for their support of Competitive Archery. My husband and I highly recommend these excellent binoculars!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't beat these binoculars! I bought these binoculars about 2 years ago now and I cannot say enough good things about them. I put my optics through quite a bit between turkey hunting, deer season, and shed hunting. They are constantly covered in mud, water, snow, used in sub zero temperatures, and have come through it all just as good as new. The glass is so clear and is comparible to much more expensive binoculars. They are also super light weight which I love. Plus you cannot beat the Vortex VIP warranty. I am definitely a vortex customer for life!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from One Major Design Flaw Don’t get me wrong these seem to be excellent quality EXCEPT for one issue which I consider major. When I initially got these they seemed to be very well made but after I used them a couple of times I notice that there was play or slop in the focus adjustment. Over the years I’ve owned Leica, Zeiss, Nikon, Canon, Bushnell, and even Tasco. Every single one of these and lots of ones owned by friends, no matter what quality of binos they were, all had a focus adjustment without any play. These binos don’t allow for as easy, quick, and sure an adjustment as others I’ve used. When I discovered this I called Customer Service and they said that I should send them back and they would adjust them to correct this issue. I paid to ship them back waiting for about 5 weeks turn around time and was excited to get them back, only to discover they still had the same amount of play. I called and talked to someone that checked and in the end told me that they are designed that way. If you choose to change a basic design issue that every other manufacturer I’ve experienced adheres to, it should be an improvement not a big step backward. Focusing and refocusing while using binoculars is the norm not the exception.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome, cheap, clear. We'd all like a pair of 00.00 binos for glassing that trophy elk, but lets face it...We all can't afford those, and some of us (namely me), have yet to glass a trophy. haha. But for a reliable, clear, well made set of binoculars Ive had great luck with the vortex diamondbacks. Ive had the old model in 10x42 and 8x42, and liked the new design enough to get the 10x42 in them and I gave the old pairs to my hunting buddies as gifts. They look better, fit my bino harness better, and feel more well made. And when you find them on sale, you can really get a good deal! Plus, if/when they get lost or stolen, you won't be out a grand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome binoculars Bought these for my first elk hunt and they were great! They made a huge difference, more than I expected. My hunt was successful and will bring them on all future hunts. 10x42 is a good balance of bulk vs optics. The clear glass picks up plenty of light, on my hunt I was able to avoid spooking a herd of elk across a meadow at first light that I would not have seen without them. Good for hikes too, and they compare favorably to other binos in my circle of hunting friends. My only gripe is the objective lens covers sometimes flop in the way

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality for the price I dropped my trusted (though heavy) Nikons. Curses! my clumsy pre-coffee zombie hands! to replace, I bought the same design, a roof prism ***familiar brand*** bino to replace my (very good but dropped and now misaligned) Nikon 10x50's. Brand **** was literally Trash. OK, so I am cheap, but for I do expect more than a toy. Sent them back. Bought these 10x42, spending 0...about 0 more than I'd prefer. However, you get quality in the hands...much like higher end bino. Better sight picture, lighter, and better clarity compared to my Nikon's {even though Nikons had higher power}. Not even comparable to brand *****. Vortex. Quality worth the cost, IMHO.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing 'Nocs!!!! After having used budget priced binoculars for years and struggling to spot bucks (compared to my friends) I decided to step up and buy some higher end optics. After talking to many friends that hunt a lot and telling them I couldn't afford ,000 for binoculars almost every one of them recommended Vortex. After reading reviews and comparing different brands in the store I bought a pair of 10x42 Diamondbacks. Thrilled with the quality, light gathering, crystal clear vision and price! What a difference over anything I've ever owned and at least equal to any much more expensive optics I've ever looked through. I don't think anyone can match the quality for under 0!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Glass That Won't Break the Bank. I bought these over the summer in preparation for scouting for hunting season. I am a full time college student and needless to say money is tight so I needed a low cost option and even with the great price of these binos I did not make this purchase lightly. After using these all summer and fall both scouting and hunting in the back country I cannot say enough about these binos. They performed flawlessly for me and withstood everything the Idaho elements had to throw at it which ranged from pounding rain to heavy snow storms and everything in between.

What is the difference between the 10x42 Diamondback and the Viper HD 10x42? I am a salesperson and sell the Diamondback the most because of price but need to know how to up-sell the VIpers.

Asked by: Karen
Fundamentally better build quality, but the real value is the optical upgrade. Your customers are going to see an image that's brighter, sharper, and has better center resolution and color tone. It is dramatically noticeable to most people.

I'm looking at either the 10x42 or 10x32 Diamondbacks . I like the light weight of the 10x32's but I'm afraid the exit pupil light will be to small at dusk. I'm in my late 50's , no eye glasses and most of my glassing is out to 800 yards . Any thoughts ?

Asked by: Hunterdog
I recommend the 10x42's as you reduce the resolution and the brightness by going with the 10x32's!

I have 10 X 42 Diamondback binoculars, was wondering if the Flip Cap Optic Cover caps would work on them. I would like to put the defender caps on the front of the binoculars. I am thinking #6 will work, would that be correct. Thanks for any help Bob

Asked by: Bobb
If you would like Defender Flip Caps I recommend the O-44. If you would like the Flip Cap Optic Cover, I recommend size 6.

I have the Vortex Diamondback 10 x 42. I cannot move the diopter ring on the right eyepiece. It seems to be stuck. There is a small piece of rubber sticking out between eyepiece and top of diopter ring. I can rotate that, but not the diopter wheel.

On the website the Diamondback Classic says the prism is "phase corrected", but for the "new Diamondback"  it does not mention phase correction. Did Vortex drop the phase correction on the prism? (Just bought the 10x42, thinking of adding the 8x32

Asked by: chris
We did not drop the phase correction, we just did not list it under our features.

What kind of warranty do these carry? Nikon has their "No Fault Repair/Replacement" policy on top of the limited warranty - does Vortex have anything similar?

Asked by: Adam
Our VIP Warranty is a no fault lifetime warranty, we cover everything except lost, stolen or deliberately damaged items: http://www.vortexoptics.com/content/vip_warranty.
