Rated 4 out of 5 by from chubs this chubby little monocular is a great option if you just need a lightweight reference of a medium range target area or a quick glance at a bird on a perch. of course the field of view isn't great compared to binos, but that's not what we're talking about here anyway. the glass is crisp. this is usually where you get your money's worth with vortex. in this case, the solo 10x36's eye relief is awkward. the adjustments for glasses vs without glasses helps, but i almost always wipe the glass with my eyelashes when i use it. the focus is easy to adjust and stays put for the most part. there are also like a jillion ways to carry it. oh, did i mention it weighs almost nothing? dig.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value I bought the 10x36 model early 2016 and I have been waiting to write a review until I had a chance to test it. I am very impressed with the crisp and clear optics and the excellent performance when the light is low. I live in Sweden, where the sun is up all summer and where it gets dark at 15.00 in the winter. I would say the neoprene cover is better than the carrier case shown in the manual. I have both thanks to Vortex excellent customer service that sent me one free of charge. The neoprene cover give a better protection if, for instance, if you fumble and drop the monocular on a rock (as I have done a couple of times) or when you shove it into your knapsack. It is small and light, so you will bring it on the stroll or the day hike. All in all, a great piece of optics for a great price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice monocular Received this monocular as a gift for Christmas. It's really bright, and not too big to carry with me when hunting or hiking. The neoprene case that comes with it is very nice, and the belt clip is great. I'd buy one of the smaller solos if they came with a belt clip. Wouldn't mind having the flip-back eye-cup like on the ranging version, either.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quick and handy My friends always make fun of me for buying and using this monocular when we are out hunting but it's a versitle tool to have. I attach it to my Bad Lands bino case with the Molle webbing. It's perfect for when you're packing a rifle in one hand and using the other for the monocular for fast identification. If I need a second look, I simply slide the metal clip through the Molle webbing and use my binoculars. It has saved my butt more than once.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value for a very good monocular. I needed a monocular for work. I needed one that would hold up to hours of use on a daily basis in all types of weather conditions. When I make a purchase I always do a lot of research to get the best value for my money. I purchased one of the Vortex Solo monoculars. It has held up to a year of use so far with zero problems. It was a good purchase and I am pleased with it. I am also pleased with the thought that Vortex offers a unconditional warranty. I have since purchased a red dot for my ar and will write a review for that as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid Gear Purchased this equipment to double for recon work in patrol and as an outdoor adventure scope on the off days. So far, I'm highly impressed with the quality, optical clarity, functionality (all for the price) and of course customer service. The reason for 4-stars - it's a little ergonomically clunky for left handers (but not a big deal). Optical clarity is pretty darn good for the price - although there is a noticeable difference when I compare it to my higher end 8x42 binoculars. Low light gathering is on the upper end of decent but not quite excellent. I'd highly recommend as a standard gear piece - it's excellent for the price and achieves exactly what I need it to do. Powerful enough for close to medium range viewing. Rugged. Belt clip is very useful (for me). If I wanted better, I would have spent more.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ship Spotting I bought this in 2016 out of a need to read vessel and tug names and keep an eye on deck operations. While nothing really comes close to a good set of binos if you are right on space and still need to see this is a great option. The glass is clear and the objective lense gathers a great amount of light to be able to see in low light conditions. 4 stars as I wish it came with a better strap but a solid piece of kit this is

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality for Value I bought this 'gadget' for deer hunting in the Northwoods. Shots are close, so my rifle has a low power scope. The 'Solo' allows me to scan greater distances with greater quality than my 2.5X rifle scope. I didn't expect the lens quality from a 'lower' cost monocular, boy was I surprised! The quality is as good as binoculars costing 5-600 dollars! The light weight and compactness makes them easy to pack and carry.

Can I use the fold-down flared eyecup from Solo R/T on my Solo 10×36. Is it possible buy it separately?

Asked by: Josef
No, unfortunately we don't sell that separately but I recommend checking out Field Optics Research as they do sell flared eye cups.

Is it worth it to get the 10x36 over the 10x25? Will the 10 be much brighter in low light conditions? My use will be for hunting. Max range will be 200 yards.

Asked by: aggiegolfer09
The 32 mm objective will give you better low light performance, however you may be better served to go with the 8x36 as it will be the best option in low light. Give us a call at 800-426-0048 ext 5 if you would like to discuss more.

Definitely lack of integrated covers is the real weakness of this product. Why to make so rugged body with a belt clip if lenses are not protected? Is any recommendation for that?

Asked by: MGLski
You can use our Flip Cap Optic Cover size 5 for the eyepiece, however there is not a good option for the objective. If anything were to happen to your monocular our VIP Warranty would take care of it for you.

I have only one strong eye so binoculars aren't really a good option for me. If I purchased this 10x36 monocular, what options are there for a tripod?

Asked by: Webbtastic
The Solo 10x36 binocular does not have an attachment for mounting to a tripod, but you could rest it on a tripod to stabilize it.

How can I, as a reseller obtain the old style mesh belt pouch for the SOLO range in Australia. I am getting too many complaints about the cheap neoprene thing being supplied. Hunters want quality on their belt, not dangle from neck. Happy to pay for them or can you advise where in China we can import them from. Peter Hackett

is there a lense cover solution for the solo 10x36? especially the objective end which has a tapered surface. thx
Asked by: marc
We do not make a flip cap for the Solo 10x36. Some people get our flip caps that are slightly oversized and use rubber cement, but it is not recommended.
