Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for varmint rifle I bought this for sale at Woods n Water after my first choice, the Strikefire, was sold out. My AR is built for quick shots on hogs, coyotes and other undesirable animals. This optic is great for that. It was also accurate enough for 150 yard shots. My only complaint is that the lense caps don't pop open, but have to be locked together. This is more of a inconvenience than an actual problem, so still 5 stars. The "glob" people complain about doesn't take up hardly any of the sight picture and is there for some reason, so it doesn't bother me. It takes AAA batteries, which is great. Great optic

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WOW! To me the name "Vortex" is translated to "Can't get any better". This is my second Vortex optic and by all means I am once again impressed. Right out of the box you can feel and see the quality of the Sparc AR. It preforms as advertised. Once it was zeroed in, 50yrd groups were in the sub 2 inch range. @100yds spot on as well. Not 2" groups but I didn't expect precision out that far, but definitely hitting pop can groups. I would recommend the Sparc AR all day. The price is a lot lower than it should be, for the quality of the optic. Vortex has a lifetime customer here!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from What a Let Down... Just got this in the mail today. Like a kid on Christmas I opened it right away. Instantly, I thought I had a blemished product because of the glob of plastic inside the tub on the bottom right, shown in picture. I called Vortex and they confirmed this is actually part of the design. See my other picture of the reticle on the box, it shows an unobstructed complete circle. Yes, I have to say it, this is false advertising. Another complaint, the "bra/lens cap system" doesn't seem like it would work long term. I would end up taking this off. I'm sure the optic will perform fine. I have other Vortex optics that I am happy with. The slightly obstructed view on this optic is a deal killer for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My EoTech is grainy, this is not. Bought this a few months ago for a new dedicated .22 build. Let's just say the EoTech stays at home. My glob doesn't get in the way, honestly I can't see it while looking down sights. I don't know what other people are talking about not taking it past 50 yards. Shot it out to 100 with a .22lr and was hitting bullseyes in the small 4 corner circles on a sighting target. Honestly I couldn't see the tiny diamonds and I had help from a friend and a spotting scope, but the middle one wasn't too bad to see. At 50 yards, it was too easy. Don't waste your money on "expensive" brands unless your active duty and climbing through war daily. For home defense and the range, it's a keeper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Red Dot!!! I've been using this red dot sight for 6 months now and it has performed flawlessly. The dot is crisp and clear. I've put hundreds of rounds through my AR and the sight is still holding zero perfectly. I like the fact it takes a normal battery. On top of everything it's lightweight and looks wicked cool. My only grip would be that the caps are kind of clumsy to open and stick together. It's a nice feature that they hook together, but in a crisis situation I'd see myself fumbling with them for a few seconds before I could get on target. Very minor though. Buy the sight, you won't be sorry!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HOLY QUICK ACQUISITION BATMAN This thing is insane for going target to target. Nice vivid dot shows in any condition. It takes a AAA battery so its easy to change and convenient no need for silly button batteries or 123a's. It has a rubberized coating that cleans up nice with just a tad of oil. The lens covers snap together to stay up and out of the way but can easily be put back on quickly. I bought this and place it on my Kriss Vector and it is incredible. First outting took about 3 shots to Zero then rest was history. I have already sent close to 400rds down range and it hasn't moved a tad off of Zero.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good for Price Point Overall I am happy with this sight, but there are a few things. 1. Dot "flares" when off the lowest brightness level. At a 100 yards this tends to obscure the target to the point where you can hit a 2" target, but you will be unable to be anymore accurate than that. 2. When the lowest brightness setting is selected there is indeed a dot, but it is so dim you have trouble focusing on it in all lighting conditions. At this price point the SPARC AR Red Dot is great for quick the acquisition needed for varmint hunting, but do not expect to be able to "Paint" the bullseye at much over 35-40 yards.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for my AR-15 Pistol! I've been looking for the perfect red dot for a minimalistic AR-15 pistol build I've been working on for quite a while. I've always had vortex optics on my other guns and when this came out I knew this would be perfect! The dot is small and crisp and the ease of operation makes everything all the better. In addition, the usage of a single AAA battery makes this red dot super easy to find a replacement battery instead of the specialized CR batteries you commonly find in other small red dots. I love this and I recommend it to anyone looking for a quality red dot backed by the vortex VIP warranty!

AKS74U, stormwerkz rail. 1. height of Sparc AR still OK in this setup? 2. my rail is only 5-5,5cm long. Is it enough? (I guess both answers will lead to Sparc II, but I like layout of AR more)

Asked by: misoXP
The Sparc AR is going to be very high for your rifle, I prefer the Sparc II for your setup. You can use the Sparc AR, however you will want a cheek riser to allow you to keep a cheek weld while looking through the optic.

What is the battery life of the Spark AR if left on?

Asked by: Mark
The Sparc AR has a 14 hour auto shutoff, and the battery life is up to 300 hours at max brightness and up to 5,000 hours on the lowest brightness setting.

Can this be used with the aimpoint T1 mount from Geissele?

Asked by: Lfmyers27
The Sparc AR would be too tall to use with the Geissele mount, the Sparc II would work much better on that mount.

Is there any compatible anti-reflection device or flip up lense caps for the SPARC AR from Vortex or any other manufacturer?

Asked by: Shields
I have not been able to find these devices available but the the factory lens covers work really well in my opinion this is an excellent optic in it's price range or even at a higher price mark you really can't go wrong with it.

Would you suggest the Sparc AR or Sparc II to mount on a Picatinny rail attached to a Ruger American Rimfire rifle? Thanks!

Asked by: KingOfPrussia
The Sparc II would be a better choice because it can be mounted lower which is best for your setup.

Is the SPARC AR a good option to run on a mpx k? Love my strike eagle but need something small to accommodate the lack of rail space and overall nature of the mpx. Thanks

Asked by: Rusty Shackleford
The Sparc AR would work great on your MPX K.

At the bottom of the sparc ar description it says it is not recommended for use with the vmx-3t magnifier. Why is this?  In a few of the q&a's it was stated that they work well together. Thanks

Asked by: Bking
We have some people that use them together and it has worked very well, but it is possible the magnifier will cause you to see an elongated dot because of the design of the red dot. We recommend using the VMX-3T with the Strikefire II for the best results.

Will this mount on top of my AR-15 carry handle?

Asked by: Barrett
The Sparc AR is too tall to mount on your carry handle, you would want the Sparc II and need a picatinny rail for the top of the carry handle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product for the $ I received this red dot last week, mounted it up and headed to the range. The dot is crisp, the mount is very stable, and I was shooting 1 MOA within 5 minutes at 50 yards. Off the bench I had a 4" group at 100 yards, not bad for my old eyes and no real magnification. The only thing that I don't like are the caps. Not a good design for home defense unless you are planning on leaving the dot uncapped. Flip ups like the weavers would have been a better design. I cut mine off and plan on leaving them uncapped. All in all, a great piece of glass for the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It is good, better and BEST This is the first Red Dot and what an experience. I was amazed at the accuracy and ease of use on my first AR 15 right up until I accidentally dropped the red dot Man was I disappointed. I called customer service to see if I could get it repaired I spoke to Jennifer in customer service explaining what happed and it was my fault but she informed me it was warrantied and would be replaced. I got the replacement the next day. They are not kidding about their warranty and the customer service really is the best. I am going to order a tactical scope next.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New to the ar and red dot world. I purchased a Just Right Carbine 9mm and this red dot was brand new to my dealer. He asked that I try it out and let him know how it preformed. Happy to say after 400 rounds I am a happy shooter with an ar platform rifle and a red dot. I used a laser bore sight and adjusted the SPARC dot to it at about 30 yards. First round was dead on. I can literally cut the bulls eye out of a target at 50 yards with one magazine. Impressive. I'm looking now at a Windham 7.62x39. It will for certain have a Vortex mounted, but which one... decisions decisions....
