Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Red Dot For AR Platform I bought the Strikefire for my AR-15 after several friends highly recommended it to me. It is perfect for purpose my AR-15 was built to serve as a recreational shooter and self-defense rifle. I appreciated that the cantilever mount came with the scope. I had it zeroed in about five shots at 100 yards and it hasn't lost zero for hundreds of rounds since. Before I bought this product I tried a cheaper red dot and as always, you get what you pay for. The Vortex VIP warranty is what ended up selling me on this product because I know this thing will last my entire lifetime, and if it doesn't, I know Vortex will replace it for me. My business will be going to Vortex every time from here on out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As always, I'm impressed! I was raised shooting and hunting and my children were raised the same way. We live in North Louisiana in the "sticks" (and proud of it), and have plenty of land to do as we please. We have built several practice ranges over the past few years and we shoot almost everyday. I now own 5 Vortex optics and the Strifire II is my first red dot style but, will not be the last. You always here people use the comment, it's good for the money, well I agree but, to me that falls way short on Vortex optics. The VIP warranty is worth every penny you pay for whichever optic you choose. I haven't had to use it yet but, I know folks who have and it works just as advertised. Thanks again for a great product!!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Dissappointed in Red Dot/Green Dot Version While I like the looks and feel of the Strikefire II, it has some issues that need to be taken into account prior to purchase. ( I prefer it over the Sparc II as the lenses are bigger for a better sight picture). Not to mention that it looks quite nice on my M&P 15-22. I purchased the Red Dot/Green Dot version. I zero'd the Red Dot at 25 yards and the grouping was really good. But when I switched to the Green Dot mode, the average grouping moved to 1.5 inches high and 1 inch to the left of the Red Dot zero. At 50 yards, the difference was even greater. By carefully watching the dots and switching between red & green, it is apparent that they are at different aim points in the scope. I called Vortex on 2/22/16 about this discrepancy and was told that this is normal as there are two different diodes and they cannot be adjusted to coincide. You have to decide which dot you want to zero & live with the other dot being off a bit. No where in the manual, advertising, or reviews is this issue mentioned. What good is having two colored dots if you can't use them interchangeably? Had I known this prior to purchase, I most likely would have chosen the Red Dot only version or maybe something else.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strike Fire Red to Dead I purchased the Strike First to Pair with the Vortex Magnifier. Upon setting it up and first outting I loved it. I loved the battery compartment, I loved the included cantaliver and flip caps. and most of all I loved the Value and price. You are getting aimpoint quality (a much better warranty) for WAY less money. Pairs nicely they make a red/green variant as well if you want that ability. This red dot has seen well over 2000rds has held its zero. Now It has scratches marks and even a dent on it, but it still functions perfectly just like the first day I got it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great optic for short range I bought this a back in 2015. I have it on my 16" Daniel Defense upper. The dot is great sized for 200 yards with no magnification. Got my buddy to buy we both took it out to 300yd and we where still on target. Easy install and sight-in. Only thing i have some issues with is turning it on and off. I some times have to hold the buttons down for about a minute to get the dot off. The mount that comes with ia great with my magpul mbus flip up sights.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Red dot I have this mounted on a m&p sport. I use this rifle for a lot of different things, home defense, hunting and plinking. This red dot holds zero. I have had it mounted for two years and use it four to five times a month. I do not ever wonder if it has lost zero, it takes abuse and keeps on smiling. Never have to adjust it and with the mount provided it co witnessed perfectly with my iron sights. That made sighting it in a breeze. I have not used the warranty but I have no concerns if I ever have to.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid Solid, feels very well built. Holds zero fine, looks mean and is really easy to use. My only significant issue is that the collimator lens isn't ruby coated. I should have realized that this would be the case since it has to reflect both red and green light (yup, bought that one) but it now leaves me with somewhat of a dilemma. The diode has to be brighter to compensate for lack of wavelength specific reflectivity and is clearly visible from downrange... not exactly an idea situation if your target might shoot back. Combined with the shifting POA between red and green and I'd say the red only version is the better choice. I assume that it has the red specific reflective layer in the collimator to get the "Bright" designation with the same electronics. That should also drastically reduce the downrange visibility.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from on off switch does not consitently work i am in the process of sending this red dot back as I cannot always turn this site on. I'm not sure what the issue is but the switch under a piece of rubber only works sometimes. We will see what vortex will do but at this point I would not buy another vortex product. I actually am buying a 00 scope and did not even entertain the vortex due to this issue. I am very disappointed.

I am in process of obtaining the Ruger Mini 14 Tactical, Model 5846.  I would like to use the Strikefire II in conjunction with the VMX-3T.  What mounting  hardware is required for each item?

Asked by: needtoknow
The Strikefire II and the VMX-3T come with mounts, however you will most likely need a cheek riser to keep a cheek weld while looking through the optics because the mounts are tall.

Can this be ran on a scout style rifle? Or do u need it mounted on the rear of the rifle? If this will work what mount do I need for a Ruger gunsite scout?

Asked by: Stormguy1986
The Strikefire II would work great on a scout rifle, you would want the medium height tactical 30 mm ring to mount it on the forward rail of your rifle.

What mount would I need to get absolute co-witness on an AR-15 instead of lower 1/3 co-witness.
Asked by: Remo
Here is a mount that will put the Strikefire II at absolute cowitness height: http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/vortex-cantilever-30mm-ring-1-inch-offset-absolute-co-witness, and here is another ring mount that will do the same: http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/vortex-strikefire-red-dot-ring-extra-high-absolute-co-witness

how would I use this on a mini 14
Asked by: Jim
You'd need the low tactical 30mm ring in order to get it into the correct position. Model #TRL. If you received the cantilever style mount with your optic you can exchange it for the low by calling 800-426-0048.

I took the gun to the range and within 5 shots I was shooting less than an MOA at 50 yards. I've tried quite a few red dots and I promise you for the money this one will not be beat in clarity, easy of use, durability, and of course the amazing Vortex VIP warranty.
