Rated 5 out of 5 by from Why not? Recently mounted this onto a rem700 sps tac in 223, after getting zeroed in at 100 I was playing on the metallic targets at the local range that vary from 100-345 yards. I had an older gentleman come up and start a conversation about what the gun was and optic. I explained just a good ol'rem700 in 223 with a 6.5-20 viper milldot on it. 6.5-20? Why do you need 20 power on a 223? I simply replied by saying ears please, and range a chicken size metal plate out at 325...I said that's why. I let him get behind the gun for a few shots and gave him the holds for elevation. Needless to say he was going to go buy his own Vortex Optic after that day!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bang for the Buck! I'm a man with little to no extra income so I did what any one did. Saved my pennies and researched. Jumped on forums to see what the pros said about trying to get a good bargain scope that would perform. So snipers hide forum guys said the viper. Boy were they right. Optics planet ran a sale and snatched it asap. Actually me and the best friend both grabbed one. Under 0. It's not all bells and whistles but I took it to my first ever long range competition last week. I'm terrible but the scope performed well for what I put it through. Especially against the 00+ scopes I was up against. I'm s vortex guy till death. Thanks guy for making great products!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Scope at an unbeatable price I have the Viper 6.5-20x50 PA on my Remington SPS .300Rum with a 20MOA rail and rings. I use Barnes VOR-TX 300 Remington Ultra Magnum 180 Grain TTSX Polymer Tipped Spitzer factory ammo "until I start reloading". With this setup I have had phenomenal success down range. I have set this scope up with no issue shooting great groups with no scope adjustments after sight in. I don't have the upgraded turret system but I will shortly. I use this gun for hunting ELK and a little long range action. I am a second focal plane scope guy so this thing when shooting short or long range works for me! I will be trying a Viper PST next for my bench gun.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I now have 2 scopes Great for low recoil like .204R, .22-.250, .243 and such because short eye relief. Would recommend extension rings or bases for mounting on long action rifles and mounting this scope on a long action Ruger M77 would involve 30mm extension front ring. Like the optics - bright clear at max power with sharp defined edges of field. Adjustments are easy to make without tools - don't need Allen wrenches for tiny Allen screws. Just pull out turn and push back. I have them set for 70 grain Berger VLD .22-.250 and 87 Hornady VMax zeroed at 200 and 2nd bar down hits at 300 for both. I can look through these scopes for hours without problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Serious performance and great value. I bought this Viper 6.5-20x50 Dead Hold BDC to put on a Steyr Pro Hunter Varmint in 223 Rem and was immediately impressed with the clarity. After a few shots sighting it in I was breaking clays at 330yds. The Dead Hold BDC reticle made it easy and my brother, who has little shooting experience, was able to do the same. It's light transmission when shooting rabbits and hares over a spotlight was second to none. It was noticably better than my mate's Bushnell Elite which cost 0 more. I'm already considering which Vortex scope to get to replace a Leupold scope on another rifle I own as the Leupold does not suit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great News While hunting coyotes, I jumped a frozen stream and fell on my back, directly on my scope. My scope was so badly bent, I was through hunting for the day. I sent my scope in to Vortex. By return mail I received the following. Mr Butler. We are sorry that your scope is so badly bent that it is beyond repair. Please find enclosed a new scope as per our guarentee. Great news. great scope, great guarentee and great company.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AR-10 I use this riflescope to shoot long range on my ar-10, it is amazing at what it does. We get back 500-700 yards and dial the elevation in and start plinking at the steel. This scope is really clear and really holds its zero, at the price it's unbeatable. I've had this original one for about two years and have since bought three more of these and a rangefinder that also work great. I did have an issue with one of them with the elevation knob coming off and had it sent and returned from vortex customer service within a week, and has worked great since. Thank you Vortex for making great scopes affordable!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent value! I bought one of these about six months ago and mounted it on a Savage FCP-SR .308 WIN rifle. I have shot in a couple of local precision rifle type matches with it and have been very happy with it. It has held its zero perfectly and the glass is very clear! The Mil-Dot reticle is why I chose this scope and it has not disappointed me, I only wish there was a First Focal Plane option. This is an excellent optic at its price point!

FFP OR SFP?

Asked by: ST...
Thanks for the question! This is a SFP scope.

I have a savage model 10t bolt action.308 what scope rings do you recommend, the Rifle came stock with a picatinny base . Is there any concerns with eye relief with this caliber?

Asked by: chief
I recommend a set of or 30 mm Precision Matched Rings - .87" height for your setup. Although that Viper has a shorter eye relief than some of our other optics, as long as you manage the recoil of the .308 well you shouldn't have any issues.

I have an AR-50 purchased from a gentleman in S.C. Only had 100-150 rounds through it. It arrived with the bolt handle snapped off. I'm thinking the Swavorski scope might be damaged. I have a Viper VPR-M-06BDC 6.5-20x50. Will the scope handle the recoil?

Asked by: FrankMMIII
Thanks for the question! I would recommend looking at the Razor HD Gen II line. It will handle the recoil of your AR-50 better than the Viper will.

What is the difference between the viper PA and the viper HS? Both in the 6.5x20x50 bdc

Asked by: Dtrim
Thanks for the question! The Viper HS is going to have a slightly upgraded optical system because it is newer. This means better clarity, resolution, and low-light performance.

I just purchased a Gen3 Ruger precision rifle 6.5 Creedmoor and bought the 6.5-20x50mm viper. I was wondering if the 1.45" matched rings are still the correct size with the Gen3?

Asked by: JosHodges
Thanks for the question! Yes, the 1.45" inch height is the correct one for your setup.

Hi I have a viper 6.5-20x50 dead hold Bdc .can you also use the elevation turret to dial the range you want to hit. If set 200 yard zero can you dial up to the desired range you want to shoot say 600 yards.

Asked by: Cowboy
Thanks for the question! Yes, you can absolutely dial your adjustments. You can do this with any of our scopes.
