Rated 5 out of 5 by from Alaska Arctic Grizzly Hunting in Alaska will put any optic to the test! This past spring we were 120 miles north of the Arctic circle chasing Grizzly. I had my Vortex 20x60x80 and my buddy had his 20x60 Leupold when a bear walked out at 600 yards in the rain..Not knowing if it was a sow or boar... We debated on this for a few mins... I set up the Vortex and extended the tube to cover the rain. In seconds we determined this was a boar and set off on the stalk. 30 mins later he took his first Arctic Grizzly. I have consistently used Vortex Binos and their spotting scope on every hunt here in Alaska. They are the best...nothing can match their customer service as well. Top notch!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Save up for the razor This is a mediocre spotting scope especially when you consider the price. Compared to a 0 Redfield the viper is clearer and brighter but not by much definitely not 0 better. On 60 power it is very fuzzy you can tell what your looking at but the fine details aren't there. The construction is great it is very solid, I really like the rubber coating as well as the fine and coarse adjustment and the adjustble eye relief is very solid. This is the first vortex product I have bought that I have not been 100% satisfied with. When compared to the razor the difference is very noticible the razor is crystal clear all the way up to 60 power. I will be definitely be trading up to the razor before this hunting season.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product exceeded my expectations This is my 3rd spotting scope that I have owned, and by far the best. I have owned the cheap and middle of the road scopes, but this scope by far has exceeded my expectations. The clarity of the lens is the first thing that I noticed. It is easy to get on target, and the focus is smooth, precise, and a pleasure to use. I bring it scouting, and have mounted it both on a tripod and truck window mount and also to the gun range, where everyone wants to use my scope, to the point that I finally have convinced some of them to go buy their own so that we all can use them. I use this in combination with my Vortex binoculars, and can't say enough about the difference that having quality optics has changed my time in the field. Thanks, and keep up the Great work

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great camp scope I use this scope for spotting moose, bear, and caribou in Alaska. It is solid! The rubber armor is nice and makes for quiet use. It is a bit heavy; so, it doesn't get much use during sheep season. I wish it was lighter because the clarity is great. The extendable lens hood is very handy during long rainy days during moose season. The focus knobs are easy to adjust in gloves and stay in place once adjusted. It has saved me several mile plus hikes to check if Bulls were legal or not. Nice spotting scope.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is the brand you want Me and some buddies started doing long range shooting several years ago. I did a lot of research before buying a scope. I finally made my decision based on customer reviews and the warranty. I bought the viper pst scope. I now have several vortex products. This spotting scope is one of the them, i can see bullet holes from a 243 at 800 yards no problem

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You don't need anything better than this I guide hunts in Kansas Nebraska and Texas. I use this every day from the truck or on a tripod. All spotting scopes suck at full zoom, including Swarovski Leica etc... This has enough brightness and clarity for anything you need, also a fine focus that makes it much easier to focus on distant animals. I use it a lot to digiscope with my iPhone as well as a canon dslr and the pics and video are great. Again more than this scope you won't need in 99% of scenarios you'll face as a hunter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best spotter for the money I bought this scope a little over a month ago and have used it while out scouting mule deer and elk. This Scope performs very well. I decided to go with Viper instead of the razor (which is also great..) Both have HD glass when I took both outside at Cabelas to do a comparison, the Razor would provide more clarity all the way to the edges of the glass! But I loved the ability to fine focus the Viper it took much longer to focus the razor. Clarity at the center was the same at all but the highest setting and the little loss out on the outer edge didn't make up for double the price. I have been able to easily identify fine non typical bucks that with my old non HD scope (Which I still have) look like just a 4 point at 600-800 yards. I can make out bucks and bulls from over a mile. Vortex brand and VIP warranty have me coming back for their product time and time again cant say enough good things about their line.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth twice the money i paid for it!!! I have owned this spotting scope for 2 hunting seasons. Its light weight for a high end quality spotting scope of this power and clarity, easy to pack in most back packs. It has found more Elk and Deer and Bears bedded down then I ever new where in the area that I hunted. I highly recommend this spotting scope, it has a nice protective sleeve to prevent cosmetic damage, but in case it takes a fall down the side of the mountain just pick up the pieces, if it breaks, and call Vortex for a free replacement. You will not be disappointed if you purchase this spotting scope. If you like taking videos and pictures, you can purchase a Phone Skope to attach any smart phone and take wonderful pictures and videos. The folks at Vortex do a great job keeping the prices affordable for the average American. I own Vortex binoculars, several scopes and a spotting scope. I would not recommend this product if I didn't believe in it. We all work way to hard for our money. Buy the best and you only have to buy it once, no more upgrading. Thank You Vortex!

Is vortex going to make any changes in the viper scopes in 2018, like making a 20x60x85

Asked by: silverone
I am not aware of any changes coming to the Viper HD spotting scopes, but our new products will be announced at SHOT Show in January, so you can check back then.

What is the difference in the glass between the viper HD to the razor HD

Asked by: silverone
The Razor HD spotting scopes have better quality optics that will give you better clarity, resolution, color fidelity, and low light performance. If you are wanting to see the differences I recommend checking them out side by side at a retailer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Product Living in the heart of the Rocky Mountains in Montana, I spend countless hours glassing every year. Everything from elk and deer to antelope on the eastern side of the state, I rely heavily on my optics to make me a successful hunter and this spotting scope does not let me down. The things I like about this spotting scope is that it is very durable, very clear, and gathers plenty of light for early and late glassing. It allows me to count points on deer and elk a couple thousand yards away and it is a lifesaver for spotting antelope bucks out on the plains. I don't have any bad things to say about the spotting scope, but I will say it is a little heavy for long backpacking trips especially if you bring a solid tripod. Overall I would highly recommend this product and I would definitely buy it again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gathers light very well I mainly use this scope on a window mount out of my pickup. It works great for this, especially when compared to the old 15-45X60 scope I had, it picks up much more light and makes glassing the early mornings and evenings a lot nicer. However, it is pretty big and heavy, so I don't think I'll be packing it around in my pack while I'm hunting. If that's what you plan on doing with it, you might look at the Razor or the smaller 15-45 Viper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Only the best What can I say! If you want the best look no further. I can't get enough looking thru my viper spotting scope. The lens are very clear and built like a tank. I love this scope so much. We did a comparison with a nikon, vangaurd, and a Leopold and we covered them up. Had five guys look into them to see which one was the clearest and over all sharpness. Well the vortex was picked from a sunny day and a dusk day as well. Got a vortex.
