Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great scope in a small package This is the second vortex scope that I have bought for my Ar-15, the first being the 4-16 viper PST. I love both of them, but I bought this one to reduce the weight on my rifle by a little bit. For only being a 2.5-10 power you can sure shoot out really far with this scope. In the last couple months I've been able to shoot out to 400 and 500 yards with this scope and get really nice groups at that range. Also if you know how to use your first focal scopes you can range find with them and it's pretty accurate too! This scope is probably my most favorite scope I have ever bought and really recommend it to anyone who wants a great product to put onto their rifle setup!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The perfect balance between profile and power! I love my 2.5-10x Viper PST scope because it contains a 4x magnification in a pretty small package! I'm amazed at how well this scope works on my Remington 700! It's perfect for deer hunting and doesn't add too much weight or bulk to my rifle. I also love the various illuminated reticle setting that allow me to adjust the reticle's visibility according to the lighting in my environment. It's perfect for low-light situations as well as a bright mid-day sun. You can't go wrong with the Viper PST series and I think the 2.5-10x magnification is the perfect balance between profile and power!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from amazing product. very happy. i recently purchased a Viper pst 2.5-10x, absolutely love it. currently have it on top of my heavily built ruger 10/22, the fit, finish, and build quality are amazing, the clarity of the glass, and the adjust ability are phenomenal. i also have a Viper PST 1-4x that is currently on top of my heavily built 300blackout ar15, again an amazing piece of optic. I've been a big fan and supporter since Vortex released its first products years ago. never once had to use the warranty, although this is what drew me to Vortex optics in the first place. Keep it up guys! (ps, please bring back the 2x pistol scope!)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great scope I bought a new AR-10 and decided this was the focal range I wanted. When I went to buy the scope the shop was out of the second focal plane option, and the salesman talked me into this one. It is a great scope, clear, tough, and good looking. I wish I had kept to my original plan and gotten the second focal plane version, only because of the cost increase and that at the low end I can't see the mil dots well enough to use them. Besides, if you are shooting that far out, you are going to zoom in. But that is my preference, the scope works exactly as advertised, and it is extremely nice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great option for people on a budget This is the scope that got me hooked on Vortex products. I bought it on sale from a large online seller... and I couldnt have been happier. Dollar for dollar you arent going to get a better quality housing or glass this clear. It has great eye relief and sight picture. The only issue anyone might have is that the cross hairs thin out a little on full zoom.... but if your eyesight is okay to good, you will be fine. the shim/return to zero setup is really nice option at this price point too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SPR Perfection? This is a great scope for a SPR or Mk12 build. The glass is definitely clear enough to push past 800 meters. The 2.5 to 10 power works well for close work to extended ranges for an AR platform. This is one of a very few first focal plane reticle scopes in this price range that has good glass and turret tracking, and the illuminated reticle is a huge plus. The markings and fiber optic indicators on the dials and magnification ring are highly visible and easy to use. Overall, this is a great scope with the only potential drawbacks being the fast focus eye piece if you prefer a locking one or the zero stop system if you prefer a different system. Both of the features do work well, but I understand if some people are used to or prefer different systems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Favorite PST model I've owned a few PST models from Vortex, but the 2.5-10x32 has been my favorite. The glass is very clear, it's lighter and has more features than most of the competitor's options. The downside to the PST line is the zero stop shims, it works but isn't as good as it could be. I used this scope mostly for hunting so I eventually replaced it with a Razor LH 2-10 only because I don't have a need for illumination and prefer second focal plane for an optic in this magnification.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from great features, but lacking in execution i've had the entire PST lineup in MRAD, really hoping for a winner. but sadly i think with the feature package you get, quality suffers. i've had to send back every PST i've had for one reason or another, except this one. which i sold as soon as i received it. the glass was great, turrets felt good, but it felt cheap. the would shift badly if you touched the eyepiece, and the magnification ring had a ton of "wiggle" and TIGHT. it just felt cheap. i bought 2 at the same time, and received them at the same time. the 2 had to have been made in different factories. both had their different issues but seemed close to equal in quality. at a street price of 0, i consider it overpriced. i took a video of it, and would be happy to pass it along. i did a "side x side" with 2 other very comparable scopes. i've given the PST a fair shake, but wouldn't buy another. i know that vortex would have taken care of it, i'm not slamming the company, but good customer service and warranty, don't make up for quality.

What size flip caps will fit this scope?
Asked by: Xinarin13
Our standard flip caps in sizes 4 and 5 will fit your scope, or our Defender Flip Caps in sizes E-10 and O-32 will fit your scope.

I see the scope has an MOA reticle and an MRAP reticle. Are the MRAP reticles in MILs or MOA? And does the scope have a default MOA turret or MIL? Thank You.
Asked by: Eric
I think you mean "MRAD" Reticle. "MRAD" Stands for "Mil-Radians" so the Reticles on the MRAD scopes are in "Mils" or Mil-Radians. The turrets on the scopes will always match the Reticle, so for the MRAD reticle, the Turret would also be in MRADs or "Mil"s. Hope that helps

I am thinking of installing a muzzle brake on a 308 semi-automatic rifle with the 2.5-10 FFP Viper PST scope. I have read that muzzle brakes can cause a scope to fail due to the rapid deceleraton due to the redirection of the gases by the brake. Has Vortex tested their scopes with braked rifles? Does the scope hold up?
Asked by: Steve
We have had our optics on plenty of rifles with muzzle brakes. As long as your optic is mounted using 15-18 in lbs of torque on the screws on the rings using no Loctite you will have excellent performance.

are the turrents resettable to zero once rifle is sighted in?

Yes you can index the turret cap back to zero by unscrewing the three turret set screws and adjusting the position, then tightening them back up.

I'm thinking about a PST 2.5 x 10 for my Browning A-Bolt 12 ga slug gun. I own a 4-16x50 PST (FFP) and I really like the FFP scope but wonder what I give up using a 32mm obj instead of the SFP scope with the 44mm obj? Would I notice that much difference? What do you think about this scope choice for a 12 ga slug gun? I put the 4-16x50 PST on a Remington Ultimate Muzzleloader and it is AWESOME!
Asked by: Lark
Glad you like the 4-16 so much! I think that optic would work well for your slug gun, you really aren't giving up anything, but you are gaining the ability to use your subtensions at any magnification! That is one of my favorite optics. I think you'll be pleased with it.

Is this scope "overkill" for a target .22?
Asked by: Preston
I think it would be an excellent optic for that. Overkill is in the eye of the beholder. My colleague has a 5-20x50 Razor HD on a CZ 455 .22LR which he shoots out to 500 yards, it's a fun setup.

I would like to mount this on the Tactical version of FN's BAR, the FNAR, which is not an "AR" platform, and would like the scope to be as close to the bore axis as possible. Which set of precision rings would you suggest? I am also thinking of mounting one of these on a PWS MK2 16. Do you think the QR Precision Cantilever mount would be a good choice for this? Will it raise the scope too high off the rail system? Thank you in advance for your assistance.
Asked by: 1911guy
Low rings should do the trick for that FNAR. That Cantilever mount will work well for your AR as AR platform rifles work best with cantilever style mounts.

I see the specs list 86moa of elevation adjustment. Is that total or from the factory center? Thanks.
Asked by: FFmedic
All of our elevation and windage adjustment values are total numbers. In this case you would have approximately 43 MOA in either direction from center.

The item description states this optic, as well as many others Vortex makes, is waterproof but does not provide a rating of any sort. Can the level of waterproof-ness be quantified please?

Those are rated IPX7. (1 meter of water for 30 minutes)

I asked about what mount to get with the past 2.5-10 for colt le6920. What I did not clarify is I want to keep the front iron sight on in case the glass fails for some odd reason and I need to shoot iron. I am considering the precision QR but will that be enough height to clear rear sight folded down and see over front sight?
Asked by: Ares
You should be able to clear the folded rear sight with that. Your front iron will be in line with the optic, but it should not be an issue when you increase your magnification as when you get up to 4,5,6x it will just be a touch of a blur in the bottom of the optic and should not appear at all past that in magnification.

I have a colt le6920mps-b magpul I am purchasing a 2.5-10x32 ffp what type of mount should I use. A bit of a noob when it comes to AR's and scopes
Asked by: Ares
I would recommend one of our cantilever mounts, they will get you to the proper mounting height for an AR. We have a couple of different options that can be found here: http://www.vortexoptics.com/category/rings_mounts

I noticed the warning on the tag around the body of the scope advising the use of a proper torque wrench during installation. What is the proper inch-pounds for securing the rings around the scope? Mounting my first scope and want to do it right. I have an Aero Precision Ultralight SPR mount if that helps.
Asked by: first scope mount
Glad you asked! You'll see the best results when using 15-18 inch lbs on most rings without using any Loctite. However, with this mount in particular, due to it's unique design, 12 in lbs works best.

Purchased this scope for my AR chambered in .308. I love the scope as far as the Mil dot reticle and clear glass, but the x adjustment is really, really stiff compared to my friends earlier version of this scope. His turns like butter. Is there a fix????

I was looking at the Viper Pst 2.5-10 and cannot determine what plane to get the scope in. I watched your video, but was curious what you would recommend for wanting to shoot out to 500, but consistently at 300? First focal or second? Thanks
Asked by: Kodiak25
I'll recommend the First Focal Plane scope simply for the fact that this scope's optical system is slightly better than that of the second focal plane 2.5-10x44 which is aided by an adjustable parallax that will help you dial in the focus for your shots that go out to 500 very well - the second focal plane model does not have an adjustable parallax. Hope this helps!

What size defender flip caps would I need to get for this?
Asked by: anonymitymeansalot
The eyepiece size will fit your scope's eyepiece very well. At this time we do not have a 32mm objective size, but we are working on expanding the line of Defender Flip Caps so keep an eye out for the objective size for your scope!

I have the Viper PST 2.5-10x32 scope and am going to mount it to a M1A Precision rifle. What rings do you recommend?
Asked by: EdJR
What type of base are you going to be running to have that scope mounted up? Generally, I'd recommend something like our Viper Medium height rings in the 30mm size for your PST or our precision matched 30mm in the .97 inch height for a setup like that, but there are so many mounting solutions for the M1A it's tough to say. I am looking to mount the Viper PST 2.5-10x32 FFP scope on a Ruger American Rifle 300 win mag.  I will have the Defender flip caps on.  What height Precision Matched Rings do you recommend to keep the scope low while having enough room for the flip caps?
Asked by: futix
You can get away with the low height in Precision Matched Rings on that setup as long as you have a picatinny base.
