Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Scope!!! I purchased Mrad version from Brownells along with cantivelver 2" mount, mounted to Ruger Sr556 takedown 16"barrel w/m4-72 compensator, zeroed at 50yds. . Excellent scope! Glass is very clear even at 6x[much better than Primary Arms 1-6x24 and strike eagle]. 200 yd shots effortless very easy to pick up target through scope. Illuminated reticle at 4 power setting allowed easy aquistion at 200yds max illumination a little harder to see but still manageable [shooting from covered rest on clear GA day]. 200 rds averaged 3 1/2 - 4" groups @ 200yds from bench with handguard on gun bag. At 1x very wide and clear sight picture [almost like there was no scope there, no to very very little color distortion]. max brightness at ipsc target at 50yds very easy to get off 5 shot groups at 1/2 second interval all in the A zone, using IWI and Prvi 55gr xm193 ammo. Love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this scope I use the viper gen 2 on a 556 ar15, for medium to long range shooting. I have had it out to the range once and I didn't have the best setup. I got it zeroed and love the scope. I was originally running am Eotech, which I love but having this scope is amazing. The clarity is by far one of the nicest I have seen. I am comparing to some of the higher end Leopold. This is my first scope I have purchased and I'm glad I made the purchase. If I build another rifle it will have at a minimum of a pst gen 2. Much nicer shooting through a scope out passed 100 yards then my eotech

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Game Changer I purchased my Viper PST Gen II 1-6 for my primary 3 Gun rifle. I am thoroughly happy with my decision as the scope has exceeded my expectations. I love the MRAD reticle, combine that with the clarity of this scope and it is untouchable at the price point offered here. The adjustments are fine enough to achieve pinpoint accuracy to the shooter which translates to confidence in the shooter. The 1-6 variable magnification is perfect for 3 Gun competition offering true 1X with no visual distortion for those fast burn em down bay stages and at 6X you can easily identify long range challenges presented in 3 Gun. I also appreciate the inclusion of a sun shade. It is trivial to some but I have used the shade to my advantage several times this season while shooters using other scopes have been forced to fabricate solutions using kydex and I've even seen cardboard shot shell boxes used to fight the glare. I am extremely satisfied with this scope and intend to run this as my go to 3 Gun optic for the foreseeable future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Do not hesitate to purchase. I have been using the Viper Gen 2 1-6 for months now and I have been extremely satisfied. I have used it in close environments effectively (5-50 meters) and also effectively gotten hits at distance (1000 meters). I am really picky when it comes to reticles as I use them a lot. I like them simple, but you also need enough in the glass to do work and make quick calculations with out dialing. Vortex has done it with the Viper Gen 2. It weighs a little more than I would like, but the construction seems very robust. I smashed it against the ground (not intentionally) and turned around moments later to engage past 700 meters with pinpoint confidence. This scope is the best glass I have ever bought for the money. I prefer it even to the razor as it is lighter. Do not hesitate to purchase if you are on the fence. You will not be disappointed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from LPVO Patrol Rifle I honestly bought the Viper PST Gen II 1-6x24 MRAD, with a sense of reluctance, since all of my experience has been with the Razor line. The purpose of the Viper PST Gen II 1-6x24 MRAD was for a LPVO patrol rifle project. After many high round count training courses and consistent performance from the Viper PST Gen II 1-6x24 MRAD, it has earned my confidence. Deploying in a domestic LEO role demands reliability and performance, from a patrol rifle and the chosen optic. I am impressed and confident in my selection, of the Viper PST Gen II 1-6x24 MRAD, and no longer hold any reluctance, to deploy in a patrol level DM role, with the Viper PST Gen II 1-6x24 MRAD, as it has certainly proven itself in capability and performance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sweetness Got this yesterday and mounted it on a 14.5" AR. Mounted in a 1.93 MI mount to clear a DBAL. In short, this scope is amazing. The clarity is unreal, edge to edge. The 1x is true. The illumination is more than daylight bright. I had the PST 1-4 and this blows it out of the water. In comparison to the Razor HD GenII the only difference I could note is a slight bit of clarity difference at 400 yards and out. Other than that it is right on par. At the price point it is going to be a winner for Vortex, yet again. Outstanding.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed Had to send my new scope in for repair right out of the box. Both turrents were overly stiff and mushy, making it difficult to adjust without having to look at the turret markings. The illumination was also defective, as the battery cap could not be screwed in all the way without kicking out the illumination. According to warranty service response, I was sent a new scope because the illumination was not functioning properly on the one I sent in. The "new" scope fixes the illumination issue and the windage turrent is satisfactory, but the elevation turret is like the one I sent in, stiff and mushy. I give Vortex a vote of no confidence and will not be purchasing anymore Vortex products. 1 star for product, and added another star as cs response was very good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best AR scope available I paired this scope with the Precision Extended Cantilever Mount and couldn’t be more impressed. The clarity of the scope from 1x to 6x is beyond comparison and 1x is the most impressive. Edge to edge perfectly crisp. Both eyes open and the reticle floats in front of you. As easy to shoot and as fast as any red dot and this does have a red dot! With 10 different powers the dot in the center illuminates and the best part is between ever power is an “off” setting. At any power you can turn the setting up or down one click and the dot will turn off. Unbelievable scope. The only problem is I only have one! Also, the magnification ring is very fluid and easy to turn right out of the box but you won’t regret adding the throw lever.

Will the optic still be waterproof if the elevation and windage turret covers/caps are left off and run exposed? I note that the caps have no seals in them or under the threads. Thanks vortex team.

Asked by: sax42
Thanks for the question! Yes, the scope will still be waterproof.

What is the difference between the Viper PST Gen 2 1-6 and the Razor HD Gen 21-6?

The Razor HD is going to be more durable, and has higher quality glass which will give you better edge to edge clarity and low light performance.

Do you have subtension information at each of the magnifications on this scope with the VMR-2 MRAD reticle?

Asked by: Stretch4769
Yes, here is a link to the subtensions: http://www.vortexoptics.com/uploads/sub_vpr-pst_1-6x24_vmr-2_mrad_web.jpg Those values are only accurate at the highest magnification. To figure out the values at magnifications other than the highest all you will have to do is some slight math. For example, if you are on 3x, you will take the subtended magnification for the scope (6x) divided by the magnification you are on (3x), and then multiple it be the value of the hashmark on 6x, you will then get the new value of the hashmark. Take 6/3 = 2. You then multiple that by the value of the hashmark on 6x. 2 x 2 MOA = 4 MOA.

Any issues with people being able to get the battery cover back on? Once I put the battery in the cover doesn't want to go back on and bounces around in the threads. With the battery out the cover goes on with no issues.

Asked by: Austin
Thanks for reaching out! We haven't had any issues at all regarding that. Do me a favor and make sure the battery is seated well. As far as the cover, you can use a nickel to turn the cap, turn the cap counter clockwise until it grabs the threads, then apply light pressure and tighten the cap.
